Apricot Computers is making great strides to produce a lower cost method of connecting people in Lusaka to the Internet. Our ability to reduce the cost of computing relies on employing WiFi among many other things. Wired line solutions to get connected to the ‘net is very very expensive. This a greater challenge overall with many places in Africa, and also the world. Wireless is our friend!
Above, a YouTube user shows some pro’s and con’s to wireless and cable or DSL.. or even worse dial-up. One benefit of Apricot Computers is our vision for a wireless city. WiFi of course will be combined with fiber to co-exist.
A beauty of wireless though, allows Apricot Computers users to be anywhere within a region let’s say a college campus and browse the web, engage in VOIP activities, and even play games.
WiFi is an IEEE standard. Overall WiFi it’s stable. In certain environments wireless signals can be problematic. But challenges such as interference from electromagnetic pollution & other disturbances can be overcome. Ensuring our network topology is able to deliver a clear signal is vital.
Our team realizes people want a cheaper solution. Giving access to high-speed data anywhere and anytime. Access your World!
